In the previous post, you saw a couple pix of the flags above Yankee Stadium that showed the D-Rays in first place. Plus, you got a quick glimpse of the new Yankee stadium being built next door.
Now, you get to see some live game shots!
Lucky you.
The game was good. Scottie Kaz pitched well to start, but threw too many pitches. Andy Pettite was better. The game was close until the D-Rays bullpen couldn’t hold on any longer. Still, overall a good game.
The best part was the father-son duo sitting next to us. The son was keeping score and wrote on top of his score card, “Against the first place Rays (seriously).” It was sweet. He also wrote “Dad in town,” which is why I didn’t ask to keep the scorecard. I’m sure it meant a lot more to him to keep score with his dad and that the Yankees won. Still, the D-Rays are in first place, so I’ll take it.
Now, more pictures.
I told you the All Star Game was at Yankee Stadium.
All-Star Eva “The Franchise, The Living Legend” Longoria
We were even lucky enough to witness the Jonny ”Going Going” Gomes experience in right field. Needless to say, he misplayed a ball that led to a Yankees run.
Our favorite player Akinori Iwamura. We did our Aki chant all four times he came to at-bat, much to the chagrin of the Yankees fans. Aki wound up 0-4 with three straight weak groundouts to second base, so they kind of had a point.
Andy Pettite pitching to Carl Crawford.
Andy vs. Eva
All-Star Scottie Kaz pitched well, but only for five innings. He did strike out seven of his first eight outs.
Still smiling after the game. Check us out in our Rays gear. We even found a couple other Rays fans on the train to the game. At the game was another story. Not another Rays fan to be seen amongst 53,000 Yankees fans.
